The Blue Heron Inn property sits on 3 1/2 acres on the banks of the South Fork of the Snake River. It is immediately adjacent to Highway 20 and was acquired in 1996. The bed and breakfast site had a dilapidated house and outbuildings that were torn down and cleaned up over the course of four years. The Carriage House, home of the innkeepers, was built in 1998. The main lodge of the Blue Heron Inn was started in October, 1999 and completed in June, 2000.
The main lodge of the Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast, has 5100 square feet of living space. The large spacious great room overlooks a beautiful view of the South Fork river. The building was designed so it could also be a private home. It contains six bedrooms, each room with it’s own private bath. Some bedrooms include fireplaces, jetted tubs, and private balconies overlooking the river and all have large closets. The loft has a sitting area, game table and games, a library with books on the local area and many fiction/non-fiction books that can be borrowed. There is always a puzzle on the table and a quilt on the quilting frames that all guests can help finish. The lower floor has a pool table and theater. The commercial kitchen enables the innkeepers to serve breakfast each morning and cater special events such as business meetings, retreats, luncheons and small (35/50 people) weddings and receptions. The Inn has a wonderful hot tub where you can relax out under the stars. The Inn also has a large patio where many events have taken place and dinners have been served. Such events include, class reunions (120+ people) and weddings, with tables and chairs out under the trees or on the beautiful grounds.
